Looking for a delicious breakfast that will fill you up, kick start your metabolism and keep you away from the donuts someone left in the break room? Tim Ferriss of The 4-Hour Body tells us that getting 30 grams of protein within 30-60 minutes of waking will do just that.
In this video I share one of my tried and true slow carb breakfast favorites. The combination of eggs, sausage, black beans, chard and macadamia nut oil is a force to be reckoned with! Not only will you feel good knowing that you’re starting your day off with a super healthy meal, this is so tasty and truly delicious that you’ll wake up excited to eat breakfast!
A few tips:
I often change up the meat that I use (smoked salmon is my favorite) so feel free to use what tastes good to you.
If you’re an ovo-vegetarian you can either choose to add more eggs (5 eggs is equal to 30 grams of protein) in lieu of the meat or use something that is tofu based (I don’t recommend this for optimum weight loss but if you are in a maintenance mode then do what works for you).
Eggs that come in a little milk container like carton speed things up, but honestly, I don’t think they taste as good.
Protein (whether eggs, fish, beef, etc.) is one of those items that is worth buying organic. Thus, get the organic, cage free eggs whenever possible. Costco and Trader Joe’s are both great resources.
This recipe is completely Paleo Diet friendly when the black beans are left out.
