5 Fun Iced Tea Recipes

Summertime is filled with lemonade, cold sweet Kool-aid, and drinks sporting so much sugar (usually in the form of high fructose corn syrup) they can rival a king sized candy bar. Try to cut out the sugar by purchasing the sugar free options and you’re ingesting man-made chemicals in addition to the already plentiful GMO’s, dyes, and preservatives.

Instead, why not make some of your own delicious summer-time drinks that everyone from kids to adults will love? Here are 5 fun iced tea recipes that are favorites at my house.

Make Your Own Yummy Summertime Drinks

Princess Passion Iced Tea Lemonade (ala Starbucks)

Boil 1 cup water.

In a mug, steep 1 Tazo Passion Tea bag in boiling water for 4 minutes.

Fill two 12 oz glasses or carafe with ice.

Pour hot tea over ice.

Add a splash of lemonade and serve.

(this was dubbed “princess” by my daughter because it’s pink!)

Virgin Mojito

Boil 1 cup water.

In a mug, steep 1 bag peppermint tea in boiling water for 4 minutes.

Fill a 24 oz glass with ice.

Pour hot tea over ice.

Squeeze juice of one lime into glass.

Add fresh mint leaves

Sweeten to taste with liquid stevia if desired.

Serve immediately.

Lemonade Black Iced Tea

Follow directions for Passion Iced tea Lemonade. Only, substitute black tea for the passion tea. Sweeten with a touch of honey or stevia if needed. Serve over crushed ice.

Licorice Root Iced Tea

Licorice root tea is naturally sweet and is very soothing to a sore throat. However, it is extremely refreshing and light when served cold. Simply steep for 4 minutes in boiling water and pour over ice in a glass cup.

Mint Green Iced Tea

Boil 1 cup water

In a mug add 2-4 tsps. fresh mint leaves.

Add tea bag to mug, and pour boiling water over green tea and mint.

Steep for 2 minutes

Fill two 12 oz. glasses with ice.

Pour tea over ice, straining out mint leaves if desired.

Although I love Amazon, I often purchase my teas and sweeteners at Vitacost.com because they have low prices and FREE shipping on any order over $49. If you haven’t shopped at Vitacost before you’re in luck, simply Click here for $10 off your first purchase of $30.
